I wish I could say that I have always paid a lot of attention to the US Constitution and how it affects our daily lives, but I haven't. I've never really taken the time to learn much about it, other than high school civics, because there are so many other (fun) things to do.
There
are actually two different versions of this book. The first, and
shorter, one is "We the People: A Constitutional Primer for All Ages."
It discusses the historical context of the Constitution and its
amendments and has lots of questions to get you thinking. It even uses
video games to explain some concepts. If you are looking for a short
introduction to our Constitution, this may be just the book for you.
The longer one is "The Constitution: It's the OS for
the US". A computer OS is the Operating System (such as Windows) that it
runs on. The Constitution is explained using this analogy. For example,
the President is like PowerPoint. Neither has much direct power, but
they have indirect power in shaping other peoples opinions. It contains everything in "We the People" plus a lot more.
"We the People" is estimated at 199 pages, and "It's
the OS for the US" at 285. All computer concepts are explained as well
as Constitutional concepts.
